Make your own DIY Paper Lantern
Today I’m sharing with you this DIY Paper Lantern Lamp Shade I made today. I love paper lanterns as they are so simple and in-expensive but I fancied adding a little something extra to this one. As I seem to be adding paper butterflies to everything at the moment I thought it was only appropriate to add some more to other objects in the house.
To make the paper butterflies you can either buy pre cut designs, hand cut them yourself using a stencil or do as I do and use a dye cutting machine (I’d be lost without mine!)
Fit the paper lantern together and begin to glue you paper butterflies in any layout you desire, I decided to glue mine in a sweeping layout but you could completely cover the lamp shade or glue into clusters. I only glued one side of the wings to the lamp shade to create a 3D effect.
To stick my butterflies to the lamp shade I actually used doubled sized tape but if I was to re make mine I would use glue as the double-sided tape creates shadows on the design.
It’s as simple as that, once you’ve finished sticking your butterflies to the lamp shade, wait a little while for the glue to dry and then fit you recycled paper lantern lamp shade in whatever room you wish and enjoy……
